Furniture & Works of Art

Much has been talked about the crash of prices in the awfully termed 'brown furniture market'. At Bamfords, we take the view that after a period of inflated prices 20 or so years ago where anything 'old' made hundreds of pounds, the public rebellion saw a rejection of antiques as being too expensive. In recent years however, the market has stabilised and recovered seeing good pieces commanding great prices.

The market for antique furniture that fits today's lifestyle is logically commanding best prices; dining tables, sets of chairs, good chests of drawers, occasional tables and 18th and early 19th century sofas. Furniture does however follow the same fundamental rule as most other sections. It is the pieces of very high quality that command the most interest and never fail to achieve great results.
