Open Valuation Days:

Removals and Storage

For individual items you may want to deliver them yourself to the saleroom; for larger items or entire house contents, Bamfords can organise removal contractors for you, normally within a few days. On arrival at the saleroom, the consignment will be split into two sections, furniture and boxed items. The receipt for the furniture and larger items will be dispatched immediately; a secondary receipt will follow shortly, after the goods have been sorted into appropriate lots. Items for the specialist sales will be stored in the departments and a pre-sale notification will be sent on one week prior to the sale. Items left at Bamfords' premises are deemed to be consigned for sale and will be catalogued and sold accordingly.

The Sale

The auctioneer will always use their discretion to achieve the item's full value. Instructions for specific reserves must be received in writing prior to the sale day. On arrival to Bamfords, all lots are allocated to one of four specific sales where they will achieve their optimum value. Weekly Victorian, Edwardian and General sales include general household furniture and effets. Quarterly Specialist Collectors' sales include toys, postcards, medals, cigarette cards, stamps, etc. Quarterly Antiques and Fine Art sales include fine ceramics, glass, silver, jewellery, pictures, furniture, clocks and works of art. Periodic Country House and Estate sales can include everything from the front door knocker to undiscovered treasures in the attic.
