Bidding

If you cannot attend the sale, we will carry out your bids up to the price you specify - we will bid to obtain the cheapest price for you. You may instruct a 'Plus One Bid' which may save you from just missing out, in which case write '+1' against the item. Absentee bidding forms are available from reception, in the back of your catalogue or downloadable from our website. If there are two commission bids of the same value, preference is given to the bid which was received first.

Telephone bids are accepted on lots that have an estimated value of over £500. It is reasonable to expect that you would be prepared to bid for the lot over the top end of the auction estimate. All telephone bids must be confirmed in writing and be accepted at least 24 hours before the start of the auction.

Commission bids can also be placed online via the lot page you are interested in, by following this simple and fast process you will never miss a lot again.

Condition Enquiries

In all of our sales lots are sold ‘as seen’.  We offer a comprehensive condition report service, offering the facility to make enquiry on each lot, requesting extra pictures and further details.  We are happy to do this for clients and ask that requests are placed through either the Bamfords website or www.the-saleroom.com prior to the day of the sale.  Condition enquiries and responses, including additional images, are uploaded to our website on the relevant lots so that they are available for all to view.

If you wish to bid live at the sale from  the comfort of your home or office via the internet this can be done through our partners at the-saleroom.com.
